Mischievous Muts

I would like to dedicate this post to the creatures that have been the bane of my existence this week.  You see, said creatures are typically one of the highlights in our day.  However, last week Phillip took all of the pets to the vet.  Just knocking out the annual visits (and subsequent dollar bills) in one big swoop.  Since that fateful Thursday morning our kids have been horrible!

Sassy - Well, she is being a typical cat.  Only she's being louder and has increased her noctural activity level substantially.  For a light sleeper, this is bad news.

Gracie - Aside from being sick from something, she's been driving us nuts scratching.  According to the vet, none of the animals had skin allergies.  This amazed him.  He said even his pets had them right now.  Gracie was fine before she went in for her appointment.  Since then, it's been all downhill.  We have tried oatmeal and aloe baths, new blankets, we have washed everything.  I just don't get it.  Suggestions would be helpful.

Mason - Now, this has to be the easiest animal in the world to own.  Problem with him is that he can be pretty dumb.  He means no harm at all, and is overly eager to please.  However, he's huge (weighing approximately 85 pounds).  He's almost two years old now.

At the beginning of the month we visited friends in Wilmington.  When we got back we decided to leave his crate packed up.  The dogs have been playing in the house every day since.  This week rolls around and one (or both) of the canine persuasion creatures decided to start tearing up a magazine Phillip had recently left out.  So I cleaned up what we will refer to as Tuesday's Twister.

Now, it should be noted that I haven't slept a solid night in probably well over a month.  This morning at 5:30 the smoke detector starts going off because the batteries are dying.  Since it was so close to the time my alarm was set to go off, I was wide awake.  I drag through the day just dreaming of getting home and relaxing.  I walk in the door and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a living room full of magazine shreds.  Again, one of Phillip's.  He's going to be quite disappointed when he comes home, but not as grumpy as I was since I had to clean up.  Here are a few pictures of the kids' "art."

Lazy Days

Since the semester has started up (and chaos has ensued), we have done absolutely nothing.  Phillip works a 50 hour week right now and I work a 60 hour week (and that's only if we take the weekends off).

Thank goodness for national holidays!  Phillip's company shut down for the day, so I left him for a couple of hours and went into the firm for a while.  It was great to work with other people in the office today.  I came home around 4 PM to find Phillip breaking in his new sight.

At least his Christmas present is being used.  He seems to really enjoy it.  Once I saw him hit the target, I realized he is better with the bow than he is with a gun.  Message: Don't make Phillip mad!

I'm officially married to an archer (and I think I like it)!  Happy long-weekend to you all!!!

Auld Lange Syne

Our initial plans for ushering in 2010 included hosting the Powerses.  However plans had to change because of work schedules, so we went to Wilmington to visit Brandy and Will.  This was their first married holiday season.  Here's one of their cute ornaments:

Will had to work on New Years day, so Brandy taught us how to make doughnuts out of canned biscuits.  While I am fairly certain that this is FAR from a healthy breakfast, it was quite tasty (and I don't like doughnuts).

Call me stupid, but I never knew doughnuts were fried!

Brandy and Will threw a party for some of their Wilmington friends on New Years day.  We were impressed, apparently residents go to bed early!  (Not surprised since the night before Will went in, he got maybe 4 hours of sleep!)  We were introduced to the game Apples to Apple after the party cleared out.  This became quite an amusing game!

Phillip and Will pretty much dominated.  Brandy had an excuse, she was sick.  I...well, I just stink!

Poor Brandy.  She didn't feel well at all!

Brandy and I even got some shopping in while the boys played Playstation.  We took the dogs with us to Wilmington.  This is how Mason spent most of his ride time.  We even got to stop by Florence on the way home to see Phillip's family for a couple of hours.  We had a wonderful time - thanks Brandy and Will!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YA'LL!
