Holy mackerel has it been a LONG week in the Harris household! I'll post more on our roller coaster adventure later. For now, I thought I'd post two pictures depicting our dearest love in some of his finer moments recently.
Emory playing Dr. Jekyll:
...and Emory playing Mr. Hyde:
You can't really blame the little monkey. This week was pretty traumatizing for us as adults, I can only imagine how it all must have felt to him. Still a cute little bug!

Our Tiger Cub
We officially have a one month old baby boy! Check out this handsome little fella:
Emory is growing by leaps and bounds. His newborn clothes still fit him, but they are quickly becoming too short for our lengthy little sweet pea. His belly is still pretty tiny, but it's quite funny to look back on pictures from mid-April. He is becoming a big boy way too fast!
He's making Daddy proud. |
Such a cutie pie! |

To Sleep Perchance to Dream
I have to wonder if Shakespeare was near a newborn when these words were scribbled. Sweet Emory is normally a great sleeper, but this past Friday and Saturday night were a bit rough. I am a super light sleeper, but Phillip could easily sleep through a train driving through our bedroom lately.
This is how I like to see Emory following his middle of the night feeding:
Notice the droopy eyes and the milk coma mouth. Perfect for sleeping Mommy and Daddy.
Instead, this is what Mommy found:
I can't complain too much because he was happy most of the time. Although, he did wake Will and Brandy up crying at some point Saturday night (sorry guys!). The thing is I'm just not much of a morning person so those 5 AM conversations aren't really my cup of tea. However, if I have to be up talking to anyone that early I'm sure glad it's someone as cute as this little guy!

Life with Little Emory
I apologize in advance for this and the coming posts being slightly out of order. I've quickly learned that life with a baby means little consistent sleep (I'm one of those moms that wakes up every time she hears a peep), lots of fuzzy memory moments, and laundry galore!
...and I wouldn't trade a second of it. I have never had a feeling of such fulfillment in my life. I find myself just staring at Emory's little face and thanking God for such a miracle. Not that all babies aren't miraculous, but he truly was a gift from above. I literally break out in prayer at the most random moments thanking God for such a perfect gift.
Since little man kicked his bout of jaundice to the curb, he's been a much better eater (making it back up to his birth weight last Tuesday) and has even had more time awake. He loves to talk to us (both awake and during his sleep), he's doing great with a little bit of tummy time, tries holding his head up quite often, and still loves to rock out in diapers alone (saves Mommy lots of laundry time).
His first Sunday at home was Easter Sunday. I am not brave enough yet to take him out into the great big world, especially since we are doing delayed vaccines, so we went over to my parents to enjoy some family time. Emory's Great Grandmother took him Easter egg hunting. Here's the first egg. She found $23 dollars for little man while he slept the whole way through.
Grandmother decided to hand him off so she could find the missing eggs more easily. He got to spend some quality time with Great Granddaddy Ted. He's the first grandson on both sides.
And here he is with his Pop! He's the first grandchild period on my side of the family, but my parents were THRILLED to welcome a boy into an estrogen filled family tree. He'll be spoiled despite our best attempts to avoid such.
He is a great sleeper! We got clearance this past week from the doctor to feed him during the night only when he woke us up, but to try to not go any longer than 5 hours without a feeding. Guess who normally has to be woken up? Yup! This kid would sleep forever...not that we are complaining in the least. I've been trying to make sure he has his last feeding right before Phillip gets home so he gets a little Daddy time in before bed. Then he's out for 5 hours, wakes to feed for about 30 to 45 minutes, and he is out again for another 3 to 4 hours. I'm not sure how long this will last, but Mommy is definitely appreciative of Emory's willingness to cooperate at night.
Excuse the lovely apparel, but I go through about 3 or 4 shirts a day. Emory loves kicking lately. We do leg and tummy massages because it seems to help digestion. However, lately he's taken up kicking like a mule. He's got the tiniest legs so it's funny to watch.
We have more to post from Emory's first trip to Florence, meeting Brandy and Will, and Mother's Day. Until then, may God bless you all as much as he has us!
