Jackson is my sister's dog. The lady that sold him to Kandice said he was a pom/yorkie mix. He's something, but he's neither of those! He's so funny looking now. Kandice had surgery on Monday, so I went over to visit. I kept looking at Jackson trying to figure out who he looked like. Then it hit me...TINA TURNER! Check out that hair!

Balie's Loss
Phillip and I had planned to host one of my friends from high school, Balie, and her son, Gavin (total cutie pie), for lunch on Sunday. Saturday we did what would typically be our weekly grocery trip since we haven't shopped in two weeks. We got everything we needed to have a fantastic lunch! When we arrived home, I even went as far as to prepare as much as I could last night. I finally sat down sometime around 11. Phillip brought my cell to me. Apparently, when we were in the store grocery shopping I missed a text message from Balie. She had to cancel because of a prior commitment.
While I was sad to not see Balie and precious Gavin, I decided to go ahead and make lunch. Typically not one for cooking, I think I did a pretty good job. We slept in and watched Charles Stanley on television. While it wasn't our church, it was something. Plus, Charles seems to know what he's talking about. :-)
The menu for today included roasted garlic mashed potatoes, SteamFresh green beans (love them), and baked tilapia (with lemon, garlic, and parsley). I even broke out the fine china. All kinds of motivated I was today!
We had apple crumble and vanilla bean ice cream for dessert. Can we say YUM?! (Phillip has devoured most of this already.)
Balie, consider this your reminder: never, I repeat NEVER, cancel on good food. :-) See ya next weekend. We can't wait to meet Daniel!

Tour de Raleigh 2009
We had the esteemed pleasure of spending our Fourth of July weekend in Raleigh, NC. It's always an adventure when we embark upon this journey. There are so many people that we love up there. We don't get to make many trips up that way anymore, so we try to visit as many people as possible when we do visit.
Jenni and Joel hosted us for the weekend (we cannot thank you enough). Brandy even made her way up to Raleigh to bring me the bridesmaid dress for her wedding and shop a little with Jenni and myself while the men tore up their trucks. Fortunately during the Fourth, there is one event in Raleigh (technically Cary) that a LOT of people attend. It worked out so well that so many of our friends were going to the festivities at Regency Park! We were able to see Katie Holloman, Lindsey Moyer, the Lowes (who will soon welcome baby Lucy), and more. We even missed a couple of people there (sorry y'all). The NC Symphony plays prior to the fireworks. They were AMAZING!!! Phillip and I left a little early so we only saw some of the fireworks, but it was so nice catching up with friends that we seldom get to see. We were able to go to Hope Community Church on Sunday with Katie. Although we missed seeing Mike Lee speak, it's always a great service at Hope. (Hint hint - we strongly suggest this church for those of you seeking a church to call home around the Raleigh area.) After church we visited the Cobbs in Cary. I started nannying for Laura and Russ when John Ryan was less than two months old. He's now 5 (and a half...mustn't leave off the half). Catherine just turned ten. Both John Ryan and Catherine were in our wedding. It's amazing how much they have both grown. I miss them terribly. Phillip and I got to see all sorts of tricks and shows during our visit with them.

Sadly, by the time Sunday rolled around, we were in such a rush to see everyone and get home that pictures ceased to exist. :-( We had a great time visiting everyone. If we saw you, we can't wait to see you again. If we missed you, our home is always open for visits! :-) Thanks to all who made our trip enjoyable. Until next year...

Beach with Kristin's Family
While this is certainly overdue, it's worth mentioning. We spent an extended weekend with my (Kristin's) family in Garden City, SC. My uncle, his wife, and Cameron (my 4 year old cousin) all flew in from California. My grandma came down from upstate South Carolina. It was a very nice trip.
Cute Cameron and Maw-Maw
Cameron found all sorts of creatures and shells to share with me.
Phillip found a hole. I don' think you are suppose to dig, but you can't tell a country boy that.
Phillip and I went for a drive. He took me to Georgetown. It's a really quaint downtown. This was a quite discomforting reminder that despite the scenery, we were still in South Carolina. Being the loving wife that I am, I made Phillip walk directly in front of me so the alligators could eat him first.
Phillip, my Dad, my Uncle Steve, and Erika all starting finding hermit crabs while were were body boarding. I was the keeper of the crabs. Admittedly, I failed miserably at this job as many waves took me (and the crabs residing on my board) by surprise. Alas, at the day's end, Cameron had more than enough to keep her occupied. All of the shells in the hole are hermit crabs. Kinda creepy little things.
We had a fantastic time!
