I can't seem to keep up with the happenings of our lives these days. Of course, it's not like I have anything keeping me busy. ;-)
In the middle of June we took a trip to the beach for my cousin's wedding. This happened to be Emory's first experience with the great big ocean and all that sand. Unfortunately for him, he slept through most of it. Granted, he was less than 2 months old so we weren't expecting much.
He loved sleeping on the beach. |
Luckily, Emory and I were able to ride down with my parents since Phillip had to work on Friday. He came down late that night. Emory and I took advantage of time on the beach though. He did great! He would eat, we'd go down, he'd nap on average about 4 hours, and we'd repeat. I got lots of reading done and when Phillip came down he was able to lounge and swim (sadly I couldn't join him in the ocean thanks to the surgical fiasco with my abdominal incision).
Aunt Kandice kept Emory company. |
Daddy thought Emory would be thrilled with his hermit crab find. Emory showed him! |
After feeding Emory, I left Phillip with the responsibility of watching him while I grabbed a bite to eat for lunch. He's the best for parental supervision. Obviously, Emory agrees. |
How could you not love that face? I know I'm partial, but seriously!? |
We had to head to Alyssa and Charles' wedding after our busy morning in the sun. Kandice, my sister, was a bridesmaid. Let me just say, the girl know to tease some hair.
That's some hotness right there! |
This is probably one of my all-time favorite pictures. How cute are they? |
Sisters and the baby boy (looking thrilled to be taking part in this photo shoot). |
Phillip and I got a break from holding the baby with all that family around. |
Everyone that wonders where Emory gets his skin tone, meet his Pop (my dad) after being at the beach for one day. |
Emory got all gussied up for the occasion, but had to be escorted out of the ceremony before it even began. |
Most of the family. Missing my aunt, uncle, Alyssa, and her new mister. |
This is Danielle, my other cousin's daughter, at the reception. I had just asked her if she was excited about her baby sister coming on Monday (Casey had her c-section while we were down). She said, "No. I'm getting a puppy" and followed it up with this pose. |
Emory and his Pop always have a good time. |
Aunt Kasey and the family celebrity. |
This was one tired baby. Weddings are hard work. |
I never did get a picture of the new couple, but here's the youngest of the Smith cousins all grown up and married. Congratulations Alyssa and Charles! (And yes, she's carrying two plates of food and still as skinny as a rail.) |
After the wedding everyone went back to hang out on the beach. Brandy came down for a visit the next day. She got to practice playing with Emory on the beach. Ella Kate should be here this September. We can't wait to meet her!
See, Emory smiles. It's just hard to catch it on camera. |
We decided to leave a day later, so we got to visit with my parents longer and even stop by Florence to say hello to Phillip's family on the way home.
Emory's first seafood experience was the best. Russell's in Murrells Inlet can grill some fantastic mahi mahi! |
Gotta love the way he looks at Phillip. |
Emory doesn't cooperate when it comes to family pictures. Or any pictures really. |
Best buds. |
For real, the kid is way too active. Those hands and feet NEVER stop. |
Emory had to tell his Nana and Pop goodbye the next morning so we could make our voyage home. |
All that fun in the sun made for one sleepy little boy. |
Lucky for him, we packed his lamb lovie. |
We can't wait to go back with him when he can play with us in the sand. :-)
