Christmas 2007

BubbleShare: Share photos - Cheap Hotels Vegas

These are a few pictures from Christmas Eve. Sadly, Christmas day had to be spent apart because Kristin had a stomach virus and Phillip still needed to deliver presents to his family in SC. However, we did have a wonderful first Christmas together...despite the obstacles!

Merry Christmas

So much going on this holiday season...we just wanted to take a second to thank those of you that mean so very much to us. We are spending our first Christmas as a married couple doing the things most people do...traveling. :-) Christmas Eve will be spent at the annual party Kristin's parents throw for friends and family. We are quite excited about this! Christmas day we get to travel to Florence to have lunch with Phillip's family...as is tradition with them. Then we get to watch the nieces play with their presents (although Phillip will most likely partake in some infantile recreation himself, but this is afterall why we all love him).

Also we'd like to extend a special congratulations to Chelsea and Patrick Hedrick on the birth of their first child, Jackson Mark Hedrick. Chelsea is one of Kristin's high school friends. We are quite elated about this handsome new addition to their family! (Sorry, we don't have any pictures yet...we're working on it!)

Most of all, we would like to encourage you to reflect upon the true joy and treasure of this time of year, our Savior. "I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people. He is a light to reveal God to the nations..." Luke 2: 30-32A

A Lesson in Parenting

We have this dog, really she's my dog because she's just not Phillip's favorite creature. This morning in the midst of getting ready Gracie was left unattended. This isn't normally a problem since the cat usually acts as a deterrent from any other items she may be tempted to tear up. We weren't so fortunate today...

Last night I decided to wrap some Christmas presents. I left a shopping bag with a few pieces of tissue paper by the kitchen door so that Phillip could take it out with the trash this morning. As is evident from the pictures above, Gracie got to the bag before Phillip. He was QUITE irrate with her and informed me that I should discipline her. I was too busy trying to take pictures, and by the time I was finished with the pictures it was too late to discipline. (I found it amusing, plus it gave me a good reason to clean my kitchen floor again.)

Just look at her sitting all prissy and proper for the camera...how could anyone be mad at her. I think she was quite pleased with her masterpiece.

...and we're back!

Just to put everyone's mind at ease, we made a safe return from Canada. The wedding and the honeymoon were so amazing. Thank you all for being a part of our special day. We love you dearly.

We'll post some of our fun pictures from Mont Tremblant soon. When the photographer from the wedding sends me the link to our site, I'll post that as well!

Couple Shower

This past weekend Phillip's family threw a couples shower for us. We had a great time with everyone at Florence. There were so many wonderful gifts! His Aunt Kathy and Uncle "D" hosted the event. Kathy did an AMAZING job on the food (and I finally found a cocktail sauce that I like...she makes her own). Phillip's Aunt Diane made her signature goodies. I think we all walked away needing to spend the rest of the afternoon on a treadmill. It was such a lovely afternoon.

My parents and sisters make the trip as well. So now the majority of both families have officially met. My dad talked Phillip's dad's ears off...but my dad will talk to a brick wall. Unbeknownst to them, my sisters almost ran over Phillip's dad on his motorcycle elsewhere in Florence. All in all, it was a rough day for Phillip's dad when it came to meeting my wacky family. At least we all got a laugh out of it!

I forgot my camera, so if I can beg pictures off of Phillip's mom I'll post. Otherwise, we're out on this one. Too much stuff to remember right now! :-)

Phillip is in LoVe...

Unfortunately it's with a power tool. Today Phillip had to go to a show in Rock Hill for work. The show was for a company that has a line of products that Phillip has been and will continue to sell. Evidently everyone that went was handed a raffle ticket as soon as they walked in the door. At the end of the day, the tickets were drawn at random for a "prize."

Kristin was at work when she got a phone call from Phillip. All he said was "Guess what!?" Not wanting to disappoint, she said "what?" Phillip proceeds to tell Kristin about the divine intervention that landed him with the winning raffle ticket. What was the "prize" you might ask? None other than a spiffy, new WEEDEATER!!!

At 5 PM when Kristin got off work she called Phillip to talk to him a bit more about his day. He doesn't get off work until 5 PM. Surprisingly, he was already at home and had commenced in what we will refer to as "Yardwork, Phase 1." Then she gets a long lesson about everything you can attach and do with this nifty piece of machinery. She informs Phillip that he is more excited about a weedeater than he was when she accepted his proposal. His response, "No no no. I promise I'm not. HOWEVER, you have to understand...this is a POWER TOOL."

There are so many mistresses in Phillip's life. At least they don't come in the form of real women.

Weekend Fun

This weekend we got to do lunch in Aberdeen, NC with Lyndsey and her boyfriend Jeff. Lyndsey is one of Kristin's bridesmaids. We were SO happy and thankful for the lovely time we got to spend together. Lyndsey was officially the last person to receive her bridesmaid dress. Now the only thing we have to do is make it to the church in time for the wedding. :-)

On our way home we stopped by the Humane Society of Richmond County because Phillip wanted to look at the puppies. Kristin voted for Sheba or Sandy. Here's Sandy's link:

Sadly, we could not come to an agreement over the big dogs. Better luck to us next time!

Bridal Shower and more

This past weekend was the bridal shower Kristin's sisters threw for her. It was wonderful. Kasey did an AMAZING job with the catering. Kristin's friend Jenni also came up for the weekend to spend time before the big day...and provided Kristin with a wedding day survival kit. Phillip is a little upset (mainly with Kristin) because she won't let him use any of the wedding gifts until after the wedding.

This would be me and my wonderful mother diving into the huge pile of wrapping paper after the shower. There's a long history with wrapping paper deprivation. Ask, we'll share the story.

In other wonderful news...NC State beat ECU this weekend. Clemson won as well, but the author of this particular blog is a bit more excited about the Wolfpack's victory. (Love you Phillip!)

Too Busy to Post

But it's a whole 50 days until our wedding (thus the reason for no posts). Off to South Carolina for the weekend!!!

P.S. - 50 DAYS!!!!!!! That's it!

Florence Florence...if only you were Italy!

I'm happy to report that since her surgery, Kasey is doing much, much better!!!

This weekend Saturday was filled with cleaning, working (for Phillip), picking up junior bridesmaid dresses, shopping with Kasey, and then a trip to Florence. Whenever we go to Florence it usually ends up being a whirlwind day...yesterday was no different. We love seeing family and friends!!! We also met with the wedding planner at the church. Time's a tickin'! Just 75 days to go. Wow!!!

The Chaos Ensues

The week did it for us. It all started with Monday's trip, which worked out quite nicely. Then rolled along Tuesday, which ultimately ended with Kristin putting in her notice at the non-profit. The rest of the week seemed to be filtering out well until Friday.

The morning begins with a phone call from Kristin's sister, she needs the number to the doctor. We later find out that Kasey has gone to the emergency room at the doctor's request. She has an emergency appendectomy Friday night. After spending most of the weekend in the hospital with Kasey and the rest of the family, she gets released.

Now for the road to recovery...

Don't Worry...Be Happy Now!

Since we both had the day off, Phillip and I decided to head to Table Rock Park to do a bit of hiking and canoeing. All in all it was a successful day, neither of us tipped the canoe, broke a bone, or passed out from the humidity. One of our favorite parts were the cool life jackets (see Phillip above - SO HOT). I only fell twice, once due to my own stupidity trying to cross a slippery rock but the second time was due to gravity working against me. Phillip had a lot of fun with the insanely cold water coming off the mountain top; unfortunately the fun was at my expense (falling victim to his water wars). He had a blast with the camera today...see his waterfalls below (minus the one that he is in). The smiley face above we found along the drive to our destination...starting the day off right. Yay for Labor Day!!! I vote for more playing and less working.

Sunday Mayhem

It all started last Thursday with a desperately needed storm. Said storm took out the power for a bit, and as we would later discover, the internet as well. Our weekend was planned with a trip to Florence, SC on Sunday to meet with the wedding planner and visit Phillip's family. Time Warner Cable was conveniently busy enough to only have an opening on Sunday. Thus, our trip was canceled. It's ok, we can deal with this.

Sunday rolls along and given the window appointment of 8 AM to 4 PM, we are prisoners in our own home for a day. I decided to leave Phillip for an hour or two and go see a client. I get a phone call about an hour and a half later stating that Gracie (my lovely shih tzu/mini schnauzer mix) got a "haircut" today. Immediately alarmed, I asked how short. Phillip begins with "Well...she kinda...umm...moved. So I messed up a little and decided to just cut her whole body pretty short." I stopped by the store to get toys for what I correctly assumed to be my now heinously ugly dog. (Above is a picture of cute Gracie...below is Phillip's new rendition. Fear not, we will not be allowing him to give our children haircuts.)

I was still recovering from the "now you have an ugly dog" episode and trying to teach myself how to knit (which happened to be the only successful part of the day yesterday). The faithful Time Warner Cable guy came out while I was working with a client and "fixed" our problem. Not true, so he had to come back out. Only this time he wanted to see if he could find a splitter in the attic that wasn't working. We had no problem with this, so Phillip showed him where to go. Five minutes later I hear something hitting the floor in the hall. I say something to Phillip, and he goes to look. Indeed the gentleman had stepped through our ceiling. Oh yay! He then informs us that we will not have internet until they (TWC) get an estimate for the damages and it gets fixed. So yay...no internet (which is vital to casenotes for my second job), hole in the ceiling, and an ugly shaved dog.

Happy beginning of the week. This is why you should not skip church for your internet to get fixed!!!
